Set in Victorian times. This is a very eerie gothic horror. It has mystery and almost a Sherlock Holmes feel to the narrative. It is a short novel but the pace is fast, leaving time for characters to develop and for the plot to thicken. The mansion is daunting and full of fear, the main character is curious and easy to empathise with. Chilling, gripping and full of intrigue. Horror that creeps up on you, gets under your skin and then will not let go.
