This is a gritty novel set in the very dark streets of Glasgow. But although it deals with many aspects of its era, such as poverty and crime, it is not grim reading. It has an underlying humour that keeps everything lifted above the grime and will keep the reader enthralled. Fast paced and shows a great talent for story telling. The author knows his material well and portrays the characters as very likeable and fully fleshed out individuals. Revenge was never so sweet.
